Absolutely! Even though ZUMBA® fitness is a high energy workout, you can also control how much energy you use by increasing or decreasing your level of intensity.

An average class can burn from 500 to 800 calories! You can of course burn more or less depending on your intensity and fitness level. Your Zumba instructor will work with you to get the maximum results... fast. Hows that for different! Better than exercising at home listening to some boring cd ... right? Along with the Zumba dance classes it is important to follow a healthy balanced diet.

Anyone and I mean ANYONE can Zumba, no matter what your age, background or fitness level! NO DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! All we ask is you smile giggle and have fun. DON'T worry about the steps!! Zumba is all about having FUN while getting FIT!! There are NO MISTAKES in Zumba!! As long as you're BREATHING, MOVING and having FUN, you're doing Zumba correctly!!

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that BREATHES. You will work up a sweat. If you want to start off with a jacket or sweatshirt, that's okay, but be prepared to get hot, hot, hot! Wear PROPER SHOES - cross training shoes, aerobic dance shoes, and dance sneakers are good. DO NOT wear running shoes, as they have threads that are too deep and the grip the floor too much, risking knee injury. Even if you have old sneakers with well-worn threads, choose those over running shoes.

The most important thing is water! You will definitely sweat, so drink PLENTY OF WATER before, during and after class. Hydration is very important!! Bring a hand towel... you will sweat LOADS!!

Never be put off trying out different Zumba classes. It can be beneficial to go to different instructor classes. You will get a different vibe/feel from each instructor... we are ALL UNIQUE in our style of teaching, not anyone instructor is the same!
